KHAT-E POOLSAZIE PARSI, 2011-12
This body of work aim to highlight shallow nature of consumerism and to point out the dangers of when artistic practice becoming consumer driven. The materials used to produce these paintings address multiple issues and carry significant conceptual input. These bright glorifying slogans are applied onto rough gunny fabric usually used for packaging. It is a reminder of the social structure across the Persian Gulf region, where luxurious lifestyle is based on exploitation of migrant near slave labour. It is also a sarcastic remark on the fascination with all things luxurious that reins in these societies and how contemporary art works become the ultimate luxury objects.
